N&W Railroad Bridge800 viewsN&W Railroad Bridge. Crossed Little Miami River near Batavia A 155 ft. deck Howe Truss built in 1877. In 1884 the bridge gave way under a passenger train. The engineer and fireman were killed. The thirty passenger trapped in the car precariously perchsed on the bridge were rescued. Sketch is from the Harpers Weekly. The N&W later replaced the bridge with it metal one that stands today. 55555

This bridge was burned by Conferdate General John Hunt Morgan in 1863652 viewsThere has been three covered bridges over the East Fork River at Williamsburg. The first was built in 1845 and was washed out in 1858. The second was built in c1859. This bridge was burned by Conferdate General John Hunt Morgan in 1863. It was replaced by a third bridge that was replaced in 1935. It was a 164 ft. Long truss with an arch.55555
