In Monroe Township on Bethel-New Richmond Road between Nicholsville and Snider's Crossroads, is a section of road known as "Spooky Hollow". There may be some people who wonder how it came to be so named.

We must go back to August 1956. There was a man, Mr. Frank Grause, who was a game warden. One night he failed to come home from work. The next day his wife, Hazel, reported him missing. After about a week he was still missing and foul play was suspected. A search team was sent out to comb the county area.

At this time two brothers, Wendell and David Manning, and some of their friends were exploring on Twelve Mile creek, on Bethel-New Richmond Road near what was then the Ingram family farm. Near the creek the boys saw a pile of rocks and they stood on top of it. They never suspected or saw anything.

The next day Mr. Harold Brooks and his daughter, Linda Brooks, were at the same spot. Under the rocks were the Manning boys had stood they saw a hand. They body of Mr. Grause had been discovered. The police and authorities came and released the news. Frank Grause had been murdered. The neighbors and people in the area locked their doors and did not sleep well for quite some time.

Ever since that time the valley or ravine on Bethel-New Richmond Road has been called "Spooky Hollow".
