1868 and 1872 Presidential Election Vote Counts(but Grant lost Clermont County!) - On May 19, 1868, Grant was unanimously nominated as the Republican candidate for President of the United States at their convention which took place in Chicago.

Grant's Birthplace, Here, There and Back - Much has been written about the cottage in which General Grant was born. Accounts of the building of the Grant cottage vary somewhat in detail.

Grant Cabin Dedication - With a tremendous crowd on hand to witness the festivities, the original cabin in which U.S. Grant, eighteenth president of the United States....

Grant's Tomb; Did you know? - It was designed by architect John Hemenway Duncan. The tomb's granite exterior is modeled after the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus and resembles the Tropaeum Alpium. While within the tomb the twin sarcophagi of Grant and his wife Julia are based on that of Napoleon Bonaparte at Les Invalides.

President Grant among Notables Visiting Batavia in Early Days - When Ulysses S. Grant was President of the United States, he, with his wife and family visited Grant's relatives in Batavia: the Simpson Griffith family, also Mrs. Mary Griffith Ashburn, a cousin of Grant's.
